MUDDY BUDDIES

MUDDY BUDDIES

These are one of my absolute favorite treats ever so a couple years ago I set out to perfect the recipe. I’m warning you now–don’t make these when you’re home alone or you might find yourself eating the entire batch yourself! These are SO much better than any muddy buddies you can buy in the store. They have enough creamy chocolate-peanut-butter coating so that the rice chex don’t cut up your mouth and the perfect amount of powdered sugar. Besides the flavor, the best part is that they only take about 5 minutes from start to finish!

MUDDY BUDDIES

Ingredients:

  • 9 C Chex Cereal (one regular box)
  • 1 C milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 C + 2 T peanut butter
  • 6 T butter
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 3-4 C powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Measure cereal out into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, place chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Melt on high for 1 minute. Stir.
  3. Heat for 30 more seconds and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour melted chocolate/peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently stir to coat chex.
  5. If your bowl has a lid, you can add the powdered sugar, place the lid on and gently shake until coated. Otherwise, proceed to next step.
  6. Split cereal equally between two gallon sized ziplock bags and add 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar to each bag. Shake gently.
  7. Add additional 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to each bag if cereal isn’t coated enough.
  8. ENJOY!
